In terms of fuel consumption, A3 powertrains employ various efficiency technologies, including dual-clutch automatic transmissions. Claimed fuel consumption varies between 6.1 and 6.3 L/100 km for 35TFSI and 40TFSI derivatives, with the S3 at 7.8–8.0 L/100 km and the RS3 at 9.0 L/100 km.
