History of Dodge
The Dodge Company was founded in Detroit by Horace and John Dodge in 1900. Initially the company produced engine and chassis parts for Ford and Olds Motor Vehicle Company. In 1914 Dodge produced it’s first vehicle, the Dodge Model 30. In 1916 Dodge cars were ranked second in sales in the United States of America. In 1928 Dodge was bought by Walter Chrysler who owned the Chrysler Corporation. Production slowed during the war-years but bounced back again after the war. In 1961 Dodge produced it’s first compact car; the Lancer Sedan. In more recent times, Chrysler, who owns dodge, were themselves bought by Daimler-Benz AG to form DaimlerChrysler.
