History of Subaru
Subaru is the automobile manufacturing division of FHI (Fuji Heavy Industries) which began in 1917 as The Aircraft Research Laboratory. The company produced aircraft for Japan during World War II and later manufactured motor-scooters. Eventually a number of companies merged together to form FHI. The company eventually expanded into a motor division and its’ first car was the Subaru 1500. The company continued to develop cars and its reach broadened to the extent that Subaru now sells its vehicles world wide. The company is perhaps best known for its division of motorsport cars which have seen continued success. Subaru’s popularity has grown over the years and its vehicles have become a common choice in the South African used car market. The flagship of the range being the Subaru Impreza which has become widely popular as a racing car and known for its speed on the track and on the road.
